Pinot Noir is the most widely planted grape variety in the whole of Champagne. It can be found in both the farthest northern reaches, 30 miles North of Reims, as well as the southern area bordering Chablis, known as the Aube. The main area for production though, is in the very heart of Champagne, the Montagne de Reims, home to legendary Grand Cru villages such as Bouzy, Verzy and Verzenay.

In this case, we travel across the region in order to capture the wonderful rich and opulent styles this noble grape is renowned for and showcase what it’s capable of with a selection of non-vintage, vintage and limited edition cuvées.

Oudiette X Fils Sablonnières

We start this case with a brand new wine from a new producer who is getting better with each and every release. Hailing from the Petit Morin, 'Les Sablonnières' translates as 'sandy lane' which tells you all you need to know about the terroir. Plump and round on the front end, there is an amazingly vinous 'red wine' like palate with a toasty, saline element.

Dosnon Recolte Noire Zero Dosage

Heading further South our second cuvée takes us to the Aube for this brilliant expression of southerly Pinot Noir. Made with 30% reserve wines and vinified in 228 litre burgundy oak barrels it's bursting with fruit but the zero dosage ensures it retains a crisp, dry background.

Champagne Alexis Ageius 2016

Moving into the Marne Valley we visit the prestigious Grand Cru village of Aŷ. This wine is one of our standout bottles from the past 12 months; concentrated on the nose, full of blackcurrant alongside some amazing toastiness. The wine really delivers on the palate – complex, juicy, with rich texture and a lovely buttery element.

Emilien Allouchery La Repetition

It's always nice to add something brand new to a case! The first ever wine from a new producer based in the famed village of Ecueil in the Petite Montagne de Reims. Vinified in oak and steel and aged on cork, the nose is full of violets and exotic fruits on a creamy, toasty bed, whilst the palate leads with plenty of ripe cherry, plum and a hint of rum. A delicious addition!

Remi Leroy Blanc de Noirs 2017

We couldn't offer a collection of Pinot Noir without including something from Remi Leroy. Made in his own inimitable style this and this is wonderfully vinous and toasty style with plenty of black fruit and a proper engaging mid to late.

Didier Herbert DH2 Pinot Noir

Finishing with a flourish, we head back to the Montagne de Reims and this exclusive and limited edition cuvée from Didier Herbert. 100% oak vinified and aged on cork it's generous and round, with lovely notes of blueberry and blackcurrant, great salinity and a touch of toffee. Concentrated and rich, complex and layered – it's one to cherish!

Please note: Occasionally, due to stock availability, we may need to substitute bottles. In this situation, the replacement cuvées will be in the same style, and of the same or greater value.
