What finer way to usher in the festive season than with your own Christmas celebration case?!
Not only have we selected some absolute crackers (pun intended), we’ve also matched them to some culinary Christmas classics, proving indisputably, that there is always a time for Champagne!
All you need is your own glass. No wait… we've got that sorted too!
As we approach the end of 2020, there’s more reason than ever to crack open a bottle of Champagne and raise a toast to the future. As such, we’ve enclosed not one but two brilliant non-vintage bottles, perfect for such an occasion.
1) Pierre Legras Coste Beert
Our go to Chardonnay-based non-vintage. Crisp and chalky, with a lovely layer of fresh green fruit. It is a joy first thing in the morning and even better last thing at night.
2) Thomas Perseval Tradition
A complex entry to Thomas' wines. Loads of fresh citrus fruit layered on apple pie with a brilliant mineral edge. You sense a really engaging relationship with the soil bringing limestone notes alongside redcurrants and fresh green apple. A magical intro to Thomas Perseval.
Whilst not considered a classic Champagne companion, we’ve found a Champagne to suit, nonetheless.
3) Remy Leroy Blanc de Noirs 2014
One of the finest Pinot Noirs from the Aube. A wonderfully rich and full style but with an energy and salinity that allows it to marry with the rich fruit that you find in even the most decadent mince pie.
If you are someone who likes it with all the trimmings, then you need a wine with all the trimmings too.
4) Georges Remy Les Vaudayants Rosé
Simply divine. This Champagne demonstrates just how epic it is when you pair it with something like Turkey. A wonderfully generous wine that captures gorgeous orange peel, black fruits and salinity. This will marry wonderfully and also work with some of the delicious side dishes like roasted potatoes and pigs in blankets.
If turkey isn't for you and your Christmas plate is overflowing in roasted vegetables, then we have just the bottle.
5) Pierre Legras Idee de Voyage 2008
Aromatic, rich and intense, with loads of pink grapefruit with a sprinkle of sugar and exotic fruit.
Fruitcakes and Christmas puddings demand something deep, sweet and viscous. So, find your favourite sweet wine/madeira or sherry and enjoy that with your desert, then when you’re feeling like you cannot manage another morsel, head to the fridge and pull out this beauty. The perfect antidote to the excess!
6) Legras & Haas Exigence No.9
Only 96 ever made! Brilliantly fresh and vibrant, complex and long. It is the ideal post meal pick me up and an exceptional bottle for a decadent finish.
