1) Pierre Legras Idee de Voyage 2008

The Vintage: 2008 – A very cold winter and spring, with some frosts, gave way to a warm May. The harvest was settled and showed fabulous grapes. Moderate yields and good concentration and fruit. Acidity levels are high. A great vintage and one that will live on for decades due to the acidity. 

The Champagne: Marcelline and Vincent have brilliantly captured all the excitement and brilliance of this incredible vintage. Pure Chardonnay from the vineyards of Chouilly, part fermented in oak. The wine is tense, rich and holds brilliantly. This wine is stunning now but will age beautifully. 

2) Bertrand-Delespierre Origines Croisee 2013 

The vintage: 2013 – A long, cold winter and mild spring meant flowering didn’t occur until quite late. Some hail hit in late July. A good level of heat during the summer saved things and produced a late harvest. Excellent Chardonnay. 

The Champagne: Using vineyards in Chamery and Ecueil, Clemence and Adrien have brought together a wonderfully balanced wine using Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, vinified in large oak barrels. The Chardonnay really sings creating a tense and complex wine that will happily marry with food. 

3) Georges Remy Blanc de Noirs 2015 

The vintage: 2015 – A cold winter gave way to variable weather throughout budding. The summer built up nicely with perfect weather conditions lining up for picking in September. The wines show fantastic structure although the level of acidity is indeed very low. 

The Champagne: Georges has created something utterly magical with this, only his
second Champagne vintage. Brilliantly put together, complex, rich and intense. It’s perfectly balanced – beautifully perfumed and such a crisp and poised finish.
