Formerly developed and marketed as Didier Herbert DH, this wine is created in the same inimitable style; purely from Pinot Noir grapes, coming from vineyards in the Premier Cru and Grand Cru parcels of Rilly-La-Montagne, Ludes, Trois-Puits and Verzenay, Mailly. Vinification takes places in 228L Burgundy barriques, with three years lees ageing. The result is an immensely concentrated cuvée with a rich and toasty lateral depth. The palate really grips on the mid to late holding you and bringing loads of dried blackcurrants and spice to the table, with an almost spirit like note on the finish.
House Profile
Working alongside his father at Maison Didier Herbert, in 2016 Thomas Herbert began experimenting with developing his own specific cuvées. Originally sold under his family’s brand ‘Didier Herbert’ his ‘DH’ cuvées received praise for their incredible depth and power. Eight years on and he has now created his own independent brand to better represent the singular style of Champagnes he creates and his winemaking philosophy – terroir focussed with sustainable practices and low intervention at the heart.
