Champagne Alexis La Terre Mere offers a pert fruity little nose, full of dried redcurrants, a creamy palate with a good chalky bite which brings ample sweet fruit to the fore. The mid to late is brilliant, with straw, bramble and apple. As it opens it gives you loads of pastry and jam. The texture also ramps up with a lovely sweetness marrying with bitterness. So delicious, tense and long. This champagne has a structured palate with a hint of red berry and tart flavours that linger with a memorable finish. Its balanced acidity and consistent sweetness make it a truly special wine.
House Profile
Alexis is the 6th generation of Champagne Xavier Leconte but has chosen to create a stunning side brand, Champagne Alexis. The wines jumped out at us for their complexity, texture and depth. He works mainly with Meunier from Troissy, Dormans, Mareuil-le-Port, Vandières and, importantly, some epic Pinot Noir in Aÿ – where he creates his stunning cuvée: Aegius.
