Made from a blend of vineyards in Mesnil, Oger and Avize, with reserve wines aged in oak, this is a superb entry into the brilliantly Grand Cru fruit of Vergnon. The nose first leads with citrus notes before giving you a nice dollop of secondary. The palate keeps central with loads of chalky and mineral notes alongside a touch of toast and honey. The finish is clean, precise and engaging... I'm straight back into the glass!
House Profile
Founded in 1950 by Jean-Louis Vergnon, the family own 7ha predominantly in the Grand Cru village of Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger, with some additional plots in Oger, Avize, Vertus and Villeneuve. They are HVE certified and vinify in steel and oak, with no malolactic fermentation. The range of wines they create are archetypal Côte des Blancs Chardonnay – clean, crisp, chalky with wonderful structure and balance of fruit.
