Clean, chalky with a nice vertical entrance. The palate is soft with tart lemon and a hint of the exotic. Fresh cut grass, chalk, cuttlefish and a fascinating note of green chartreuse that I have never found before! The next day you really feel that green apple, grass and this incredible layer of chalk.

House Profile

These guys have been knocking it out of the park over the last few years. The house dates back to the early 20th Century but has been given a new lease of life with the introduction of Clemente and Antoine in the last decade or so. They work with 44 plots in Cramant, Mesnil, Chouilly, Oiry and Oger, but have key plots in the fabulous single vineyards of Chetillons and Mont Aigu among others. They produce wines that are beautifully honest to the terroir and we can't wait to see what the next few years brings for them.

"L'Extravertie represents the whole diversity of the Pertois-Lebrun vineyards. Originating in Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oiry and Cramant, it is classified as grand cru. For the time being, it includes no reserve wines, being wholly made up of 2018 fruit. Youthful lemon colour. The gently oak-lined nose shows overt, sweet peachy-tropical fruit, fruit drops, fragrant flowers and zesty lemon. The palate is supple and creamy, with a caressing quality to it. Highly harmonious and refreshingly saline - 90." Essi Avellan MW's top grower Champagnes by score – Club Oenologique April 2023
