Made with Chardonnay from Villers Marmery this shows a perfect snapshot of the village. Chalk with notes of cuttlefish all glazed with orange peel and this proper salinity on the finish. The entrance is gushingly sublime with loads of apple skin and lemon pith, the mid round and generous, the finish salty, sweet and long.

House Profile

This fantastic maison is based in the village of Villers Marmery in the Montagne de Reims. Originally formed by Gaston Henriet in 1890 in Verzenay, it acquired the vineyards of Villers Marmery through marriage in the 60s. They now work with over 7 hectares in Verzenay, Villers-Marmery and Verzy with some holdings in Faverolles and Coemy. It is now run by Marie-Noelle who has recently acquired the HVE, (High Environmental Value), status on her vines and it is clear that, although not labelled organic, she is focused on doing the best for her wines. Their wines sing of the fruit of Villers-Marmery. Crisp, clean and fruity with a brilliant tension and length.

Press Reviews

"A zesty mineral Chardonnay-based Champagne, this is crisp, dry and bright. It has a tight texture giving a steely edge to the fruit and bringing out both structure and acidity. This is a wine to savour with food. Drink now."
Roger Voss – Wine Enthusiast

"This cuvée originates exclusively from Villers-Marmery and is based on the fine 2019 vintage. In the usual Henriet-Bazin fashion, it is complemented by 30% reserve wines from the family solera that has been running since 1968. The nose is fresh and fruit-forward, with ample appley and lemony fruit. On the palate, the feeling of transparency continues with the chalky mineral texture. The wine’s zestiness adds to the impression of purity and precision. This has a clear terroir imprint and is a great entry point to the Henriet-Bazin range - 90."
