We’ve worked hard to access many great producers from across the width and breadth of Champagne. In doing so, we’re able to demonstrate just how diverse this region can be.

This case, focussing solely on Chardonnay, offers two excellent examples from the Côte des Blancs heartland, alongside cuvées from the Montagne de Reims, Marne Valley, Montgueux and even the southerly Aube. Six different styles of this renowned grape –each as delicious as the next, but all delightfully unique.

Bonnaire Terroirs

We start off with a delicious and approachable example of classic Côte de Blancs Chardonnay – crisp, chalky and fresh with zesty citrus fruit flavours balanced by nice mid-palate weight and texture.

Domaine Vincey Le Grand Jardin 2019

Staying in the Côte des Blancs, we take a look at a prestige single-vineyard wine from a little further south in the sub-region. The grapes come from a small plot directly behind the building in the village of Oger. The nose displays exotic fruit, alongside some candied elements and salt. On the palate it's complex but refined with the oak in the background intermingling with all those classic Chardonnay fruits.

A. Levasseur Blanc de Terroir

Moving away from classic Chardonnay territory, we visit the village of Cuchery in the Marne valley for a really different take on the grape. The typical minerality and chalk elements make way for a richer and rounder profile and more tropical fruit flavours.

George Remy Les Muits 2019

We wanted to include this Chardonnay purely because it comes from a village and producer so renowned for Pinot Noir. It retains the big, bold character of all the wines from this Maison but without losing the crisp, citrus vivacity that is synonymous with Chardonnay.

Jean Velut Lumiere et Craie Sip Edition

We couldn't put together a case of Chardonnay without showcasing something from the legendary village of Montgueux. Whilst the village itself has a distinctive style, this wine even more so due to the unique manner of production; created from a reserve vat with no base vintage and disgorged exclusively for Sip, it's rich and creamy with plenty of brioche, butter and toffee'd notes.

Guenin Liliale

We finish our journey in the very far south of Champagne. Coming from a terroir of Kimmeridgian clay, with vinification in oak barrels, this cuvée could be considered to share more in common with Chablis than Champagne! The nose brings smokey notes, along with saline, sea shell aromas, whilst the palate shows good depth and a lovely array of exotic fruit.

Please note: Occasionally, due to stock availability, we may need to substitute bottles. In this situation, the replacement cuvées will be in the same style, and of the same or greater value.
