Joining their perennial favourite 'Rosé Heritage' is this wonderful vintage rosé from Louis Brochet. This cuvée is made from three distinct plots – 'Les Rosets' in Sacy for the Pinot Noir, 'Les Vouagnes' in Ecueil for the Chardonnay, and the famous terroir of 'Mont Benoit' in Villers aux Nœuds for the red wine that completes the blend. And what a beautiful blend is is, full of rose pips, a touch of clementine and toast. There's good length and an amazing level of juicy fruit. The finish lingers nicely with a taste of strawberry.
House Profile
The Brochet name bounds around the region of Champagne and beyond. But not this one. Until now. Having tasted several hundred wines during an exhausting trip to Champagne, we came across this magic producer and the wine jumped out of the glass at us. Based in the village of Ecueil in the north west of the region, they produce masterfully juicy, rich wines from their ample 13 hectare holdings. They hold both VD and HVE and you sense that honesty, thought and precision in their wines.
