Really nicely balanced nose darting between citrus and blackcurrant. There's a touch of white flowers and pith. The palate has loads of tension and spice, bringing plenty of bitter play to the fore, along with some secondary elements and a lovely long finish.
House Profile
Simon has taken over the family maison which dates back four generations. It is situated in the village of Courmas and holds 2.15 hectares, mostly in Meunier but with some holdings in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vines are, on average, 25 years old and the use of Herbicides and pesticides were stopped in 2017. The main body of cuvées represent blends that match the house profile but, in addition, Simon has created three separate mono-varietal wines, called 'Larmes', that mark as a distinct turn in the road for the Maison and take him into the big leagues in small Champagne production!
