Sensational nose. Clean, precise, white flowers, chalk. The palate blooms almost perfectly. Warm, touch of butter, chalky. Precise. With this elegant delivery of green apple, hint of toffee. The finish shows the boldness of the vintage without losing its direction. This is a brilliant wine. With amazing depth of texture, finesse and this glorious terroir focused finish.

House Profile

These guys have been knocking it out of the park over the last few years. The house dates back to the early 20th Century but has been given a new lease of life with the introduction of Clemente and Antoine in the last decade or so. They work with 44 plots in Cramant, Mesnil, Chouilly, Oiry and Oger but have key plots in the fabulous single vineyards of Chetillons and Mont Aigu among others. They produce wines that are beautifully honest to the terroir and I can't wait to see what the next few years brings for them.

"This single-vineyard cuvée comes from a 0.593ha plot in Chouilly planted by Paul Pertois in 1955. With its mid-slope, south-facing position, there is no shortage of concentration. A third of the 2014 cuvée was oak-fermented, which is evident in the mild woody aromatics. Opulent, even lifted fruit: pineapple, dried apricot, baked peach. This is juicy and vinous on the palate, with a smooth texture that verges on oily. The stunning acid line brings focus and vibrancy to it all. This is an instantly impressive style that will take time - 91." Essi Avellan MW's top grower Champagnes by score – Club Oenologique April 2023
