The wine is outstanding for something so young. A lovely use of oak up front with loads of pine nut, straw and a brilliant freshness of fruit. Dried tropical notes with amazing lemon juice notes and a fantastic mid palate texture and pointed salinity. Complex, rich and showing a lovely use of bitter notes on the finish.

Here is a wine that stops you in your tracks and forces you to turn. A super exciting first ever cuvée from one of the truly exciting new producers.

House Profile

A wonderfully exciting new producer from the village of Beaunay, South of the Côte des Blancs. The Domaine was founded in the 1920s by Leon and Gabrielle Aubert. They started by working the vines and their children ended up developing the winery. The first press was put in by their child Pascal in the 1990s. Maxime came on board in 2012 and started to make his own wines in 2015 after the construction of their first cellar.

Even though we are only experiencing his first ever wine with the Les Gras d’Huile, you really get a sense that Maxime is onto something great here.
