Sun-drenched, south-eastern slopes and rich chalk soils enable Bouzy to produce powerful, vinous expressions of Blanc de Noirs. As such, it will come as little surprise that it's also the prime spot for creating Côteaux Champenois, or red wine from the Champagne appellation. This example is made from two lieu-dits in the village: 'Les Clos' and 'Les Hautes Brousses'. Both located on mid-slopes with excellent southerly exposure, the Pinot Noir grapes reach great maturity. Vinification takes place in stainless steel to allow true expression of the fruit, followed by 24 months ageing in oak before bottling. The result is a really well balanced wine with ample red fruit and fresh minerality.

House Profile

Based in Bouzy and made from the same family that brought you Champagne Bonnaire. They work with vineyards both in Bouzy and some of the staple within the Bonnaire range: Cramant, Bergeres les Vertus, Cuis and Fossoy. The wines show a harmonious and fruity side to the village; bright with a lovely sugar balance throughout. The Prestige, a wine made from the vineyard of Les Hauts Chemins is a real stunner.

*Please note: This is Coteaux Champenois Rouge – still red wine made in the Champagne appellation*
