This Valentine’s Day – Don’t settle for prosecco

What does your typical Valentine’s evening entail? A couple of drinks in a nice bar followed by dinner in a swanky restaurant? Maybe even the theatre? Presumably roses make an appearance at some point. Now, how much does that set you back?

This year, the vast majority of us will be forced to save cash with a meal at home. Whether that’s likely to be a gastronomic triumph prepared by your own fair hand or the finest gourmet food delivered to your door, don’t spoil your meal by sitting it alongside a bottle of boring, mass-produced prosecco. Finish with a flourish by selecting a bottle of hand-crafted, sustainably sourced artisan Champagne… made with love, for the one you love.

Our bottle shop has over 80 unique Champagnes to choose from but, if you’re short on time, we’ve picked a few of our favourites that cover all budgets.

Oh… and don’t forget the roses too.

Goodbye prosecco, hello… Pierre Callot Grand Cru Blanc du Blancs – £40

Maxime and his father, Thierry, are the 6th and 7th generation of producers from this small Maison in the brilliant village of Avize. They create wonderfully rich and expressive wines from their 7 hectares including this superb Chardonnay.

A step into big-league bottles… Bertrand Delespierre Origines Croisées 2013 – £80

Famed for their distinctive wines with structure and finesse, this 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is vinified in oak barrels creating an exotic wine with energy and tension, notes of orange peel and a peppery edge.

Wow-factor wine built on a love story… Goutorbe-Bouillot Clos de Monnaies 2011 – £150

The Goutorbe and Bouillot family both have a history of winemaking dating back to the early 18th century, but they joined forces in the 1930s when Pierrette Bouillot and Jules Goutorbe tied the knot. This cuvée is a fascinating blend of Meunier and Chardonnay with a touch of oak, lovely nutty and herbaceous notes on the mid palate, and a richness attained from 60 year old vines.

The full works… Valentine’s Case – £190

See through Valentine’s Day and beyond with our 3-bottle case featuring our enormously popular Pierre Legras Coste Beert, the delectable Georges Remy Rosé (one of just 690 bottles!) and the exotic and complex Demiere Lysandra 12.

The smaller producers barely get a look in. That is, until now.
